Short Description

Shimla : Shimla also called Simla, is the capital and largest city of Himachal Pradesh, popularly known as “Queen of the Hill”. It derives its name from Hindu Goddess Shyamala Devi, an incarnation of Goddess Kali. Shimla has a great geographical value in India. If we return back to Indian history then we will found that the city was the summer capital of India in the time of British Raj between 1864 and 1939. After independence, Shimla became the capital of undivided state of Punjab and shifted to newly constructed city Chandigarh on 1971, where Shimla becomes the capital city of newly formed state Himachal Pradesh.

Manali: Manali is a beautiful hill station in Kullu District in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It has an average altitude of 6,427 feets above mean sea level. Manali is located on the bank of Beas River about 39 km away from Kullu City hub and 268 km away from Shimla. According to the census of 2011 approximately 8,096 people reside here. Being a hill station of higher elevation it be snow covered in winter and its green meadows and deodar forests attract a number of trekkers, skiers, and rafters throughout the year. Manali is also very favorite place for honeymoon couples.

Dharamshala – Dharamshala, situated at an altitude of approx 1500 meters above sea level in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh, stands at the foot of Dhauladhar ranges and has a magnificent view of snowy peaks, deodar and pine forests, tea gardens and beautiful hills. The snow line is perhaps more easily accessible at Dharamshala than any other hill station in India.

Dalhousie – got its name from the Lord Dalhousie, the British governor General of the 19th century. This hill station was established in 1854 as a retreat to escape the scorching heat of the Indian summer. Dalhousie was enticed by the pleasant climate and peaceful atmosphere of this hill region. To develop the area as a summer retreat, five hills, which are Bhangora, Bakrota, Terah (also known as Moti Tibba), Potreyn and Kathalagh, were acquired by the British from the ruler of Chamba. As a payment for the hills, the British reduced the amount of tax levied on the ruler. Dalhousie soon became a popular summer resort for soldiers, military officials and Englishmen.
